My Story

Welcome to my counseling journey! From a young age, my fascination with psychology and the intricacies of the human experience has been a guiding force in my life. Always feeling like the “odd one out,” I found solace in my innate need to understand people and their complexities.

Beginning as a certified hypnotherapist in Cape Town (2000), I simultaneously pursued a BA in Human Sciences and Social Services. The pursuit of knowledge led me to an Honors degree in pure psychology, a four-year commitment that deepened my understanding of human beings. My research on the moral development of teenagers, conducted at Olyfkrans College in Swellendam, and practical hours at the South African Police Service in Swellendam, further enriched my professional foundation.

My scope of practice encompasses wellness in its broadest sense. I offer support in interpersonal relationships, spiritual growth, marriage counseling, parent-child dynamics, career guidance, stress and lifestyle management, chronic disease prevention, victim empowerment, household planning, HIV/AIDS counseling, workplace adaptation, risk management, study methods, anxiety and depression support, substance abuse, cultural issues, diversity in the workplace, employment prospects, assisting people with disabilities, mental preparation for retirement, and resolving common day-to-day challenges.

Q & A

HOW MANY TIMES SHOULD I VISIT MY COACH?
The number of coaching sessions needed can vary depending on the nature and severity of the individual’s concerns, their level of readiness for change, and the approach used. While some individuals may benefit significantly from a few sessions, others may require more extensive and long-term coaching to achieve their goals. It’s essential to work collaboratively with the coach to determine the appropriate duration and frequency of sessions based on individual needs and progress

IMPORTANCE OF CAREER GUIDANCE
Career guidance helps individuals gain a better understanding of themselves, their interests, values, strengths, and skills. It provides a structured process to explore different career options and align them with one’s unique characteristics and aspirations. Through self-reflection and assessments, career guidance helps individuals gain clarity about their career goals and make informed decisions.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PSYCHOLOGIST AND A LIFE COACH?
Life coaches identify and describe current problematic behaviors so the client can work to modify them. Therapists analyze their client’s past as a tool for understanding present behaviors. In other words, therapists focus on “why” certain behavioral patterns occur, and coaches work on “how” to work toward a goal.
